This class is a unique opportunity to learn the intricate steps involved in the art of developing a cosmetic product. The anatomy of cosmetic formulation including emulsifiers, preservative, emollients, humectants, fragrances, and various categories of active ingredients will be discussed in great detail. Peptides, stem cells, vitamins, and botanical ingredients will be on site for a collaborative selection to make a product for all to take home. Hands on experience will allow attendees to merge both theory and practical application. The use of scales, propeller mixers, homogenizers, pH meters, and viscometers will give attendees insight to the process of research and development as well as the manufacturing procedure. Don’t miss this opportunity to get a peek behind the formulary curtain and learn observations typically saved for formulary chemists.
Michael Q. Pugliese, LE, became the third generation CEO of Circadia by Dr. Pugliese, Inc. in 2006. In a few short years under Michaels leadership, the Circadia brand has grown to achieve international recognition and distribution, largely through its vigorous support of the American esthetic industry trade shows and magazines. In the tradition of his grandfather, Michaels popular product-neutral scientific lectures around the world are often attended by leaders of other professional skin care companies, already fans of the books by Dr. Pugliese. Traveling an average of 40 weeks a year, Michael, at 67, in his trademark monogrammed scrubs, is visible as a speaker at shows all over the US, and at the annual esthetic events in Sydney, London, Toronto, Mexico City and Vancouver. Michael attended the esthetics course in Pennsylvania and is a licensed esthetician. He is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and regularly attends their education events to stay on the cutting edge of new product development.
